About Twin's Hope

Introduction

We at the Twin’s Hope Pocket Community are embarking on a journey to develop a pocket community of small 600-1200 sq. ft houses, aimed at providing sustainable, affordable, and community-focused living solutions. Our vision is to create a harmonious living space that embraces the values of affordability, minimalism, sustainability, eco-friendliness, and community spirit. To realize this vision, we seek to partner with forward-thinking small home construction companies that share our passion for innovative and affordable housing solutions.

Project Overview

The Twin’s Hope Pocket Community project aims to develop a cluster of 8-12 small affordable homes that are designed with efficiency, sustainability, and aesthetics in mind. The community will feature common areas such as gardens and shared amenities to promote interaction and a sense of belonging among residents. Our goal is to create a model for modern living that is both environmentally responsible and socially vibrant.

Home Design

We will be developing compact and appealing 800-1200 sq. ft. two-story residences because we are focused on the following key advantages:

  • Land Efficiency: A two-story design significantly reduces the building’s footprint, allowing for more outdoor space and making efficient use of valuable land, crucial in urban or suburban settings.

  • Cost and Energy Efficiency: By building vertically, we aim to save on construction costs related to the foundation and roof, while also improving the home’s energy efficiency through a smaller exposed surface area. This approach will align both with our sustainability goals and provide long-term savings for occupants.

  • Design and Privacy: The 2-story design strategy ensures a separation of living and private spaces, enhancing occupant privacy and comfort.

  • Environmental Security: Developing an elevated living space in a two-story home provides an additional safety measure against environmental risks like flooding, making the property more appealing in certain regions.

  • Aesthetic Appeal And Market Value: A two-story home can offer a wider range of architectural styles and appearances that might not be possible with a single-story design. This will increase curb appeal and, potentially, the resale value of the home.

Small 2-story homes offer a blend of economic, environmental, and lifestyle benefits, making them an appealing choice for many people. Whether it’s saving on construction costs, making the most of a small lot, or simply enjoying the separation of living spaces, these homes offer versatility that suits a wide range of needs and preferences.

Who is the ideal resident of Twin's Hope?

-Young Professionals And Recent University Graduates: Individuals or couples in their 20s and early 30s looking for affordable housing options close to the HRM. The smaller home sizes can be ideal for those without children or with plans for a smaller family.

Remote Workers: With the rise of remote work, people who aren’t required to be in the office daily or who only need to commute occasionally might find pocket neighborhoods appealing. Twin’s Hope will provide a balance between accessibility to the city and the tranquility of a more suburban or rural setting.

-Retirees: Active older adults looking to downsize and live in a community setting with neighbours in similar life stages. Small houses in a pocket community can offer manageable living spaces, lower maintenance, and a sense of belonging, which are attractive features for retirees.

First-time Homebuyers: Individuals or families seeking to enter the housing market will find Twin’s Hope a more accessible option due to the affordability of the smaller homes. This demographic is often priced out of larger homes in urban areas, making a pocket neighbourhood an appealing entry point to homeownership.

-Environmental Advocates: People who prioritize sustainability and a lower carbon footprint will be drawn to the efficient use of space and resources at Twin’s Hope. Smaller homes typically consume less energy, and the community design will emphasize walkability and shared green spaces.

-Single Parents: The safe and communal aspect of Twin’s Hope, combined with its affordability, will be appealing to single parents. The community at Twin’s Hope will foster a sense of belonging for both the children and the parent.

-Downsizers: Not limited to retirees, downsizers encompass any individual or couple looking to reduce their living space and simplify their lifestyle. This could be due to children moving out, a desire for a less materialistic life, or the need for a more manageable property.
